THE LINDEN MARKET and Classic1027 bring Classical music to the people
The end of winter’s chill is in sight and the return of warm sunshine, budding blossoms and singing birds are around the corner… so is The Linden Market on the 28th of September.
Celebrating the new season, TLM is delighted to announce Classic1027 as our media partner. Not only will Classic1027 bring a new, fresh element to TLM, but we are also introducing a new space to the market (which we will tell you more about in a bit).
Classic 1072 has recently launched the re-branding of South Africa’s only commercial Classical Music Radio Station and their main aim is to make Classical Music accessible to all South Africans. As huge classical music fans ourselves we believe that the platform TLM provides, combined with Classic1027’s vision, that The Linden Market Spring Edition is the perfect place to breathe new life into this incredible genre. Classic1027 CEO, Lyndon Johnstone says that Classical Music might be old, but it definitely need not be old-fashioned. And we wholeheartedly agree.
As TLM has grown from strength to strength over the past few years with market-goers streaming in and chilling under the shaded area, enjoying the food and entertainment, we wanted to create another space in the beautiful Botanical Gardens of Emmarentia. This new space is to your right as you enter the market, where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the main market area and enjoy the beautiful sounds of a six piece symphony.
Classics in the Garden, brought to you by Classic1027 between 12:00-14:00 on Saturday the 28th of September. This six piece orchestra will entertain with everything from modern classics to much-loved favourites by the classical masters.
One of the biggest attractions of TLM, Date-A-Dog and CLAW, will be moving to the new space, as classical music is just as stimulating and relaxing for pups, as it is for people…
Yo–Yo Ma, Chinese-American cellist and child prodigy, performing and playing the cello from the age of four and a half said: “Classical music is one of the best things that ever happened to mankind. If you get introduced to it in the right way, becomes your friend for life.” This is why we are so excited about partnering with Classic1027, as we truly want to bring “one of the best things that ever happened to mankind” to TLM.
So bring your kids, grandma, uncle and your furry friends to enjoy this great gift, under the trees of the gardens, while you enjoy your lunch or a sparkling glass of bubbly.
